2013 Indian Chief Vintage | First Look Limited-Edition Luxury
2013 Indian Chief Vintage | First Look
Limited-Edition Luxury
America's other
old-time motorcycle manufacturer, Indian, also has a limited edition
cruiser in its 2013 lineup. Inspired by the classic, 1940s full-fender
Chief models, the Chief Vintage Limited Edition features Pearl White and
Thunder Black two-tone paint, lots of accessory chrome and fringed
leather saddlebags in a rich, chestnut color that give the bike a
distinctly yesteryear appearance.
The technology, fortunately, is up-to-date. Indian's 105-cubic-inch, fuel-injected Powerplus V-twin engine, with its signature barrel-shaped cylinder heads, is paired with a six-speed transmission, while triple disc brakes mounted to wire-spoke wheels bring this 753-pound touring cruiser to a safe stop. Now owned by Polaris, the latest-generation
Indians have been completely re-engineered and are manufactured at the Polaris/Victory facility located in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Indian will produce just 35 examples of the Chief Vintage LE, each with a windscreen, quick-release luggage rack/passenger backrest, highway pegs and a special, arrowshaped shift rod as standard equipment. The MSRP is $37,899, a premium of $1900 over the standard Chief Vintage. Nothing says vintage Americana like a neonlit Ferris wheel and a full-fendered Indian Chief. Fortunately this one is modernized with fuel injected and triple disc brakes.

2012 World Championship of Custom Bike Building
2012 World Championship of Custom Bike Building
Last time we checked in on the World Championship of Custom Bike Building (Wild File, Nov. 2011), held annually during the Black Hills Motorcycle Rally at Sturgis, we praised the trend away from outrageous, OCC-style theme choppers toward café racer-inspired customs that might actually function as rideable motorcycles. Apparently last year’s event was an anomaly, because most award winners in this year’s “Freestyle” category look straight from Planet Yeahright. Here are three of the more outrageous examples:

Livia Lancelot goes to Mantova with plans of winning the feminine World MX Championship
.
Among the many promising themes planned for this weekend on the track of Mantua, there is also the appointment with the French MX pilot, Livia Lancelot. At only 20 years, the skilled Kawasaki pilot arrives for the first time in Mantua with the clear purpose of defending that much craved first place in the Women World Championship.
Italy opens its gates for this weekend’s Grand Prix and although the track is a first for Livia, she has great expectations for a weekend to remember despite the tight schedule of the MX1 and MX2 categories.

Predictions talk about the beautiful Livia Lancelot-pilot for team GPKR- as being the favorite by far as it runs for the same team as the Pourcel brothers did, but let’s see where it come from before hoping any more or less related to its performance.

*APRILLIA*
....APRILIA....
Until recent years, Aprilia has been producing the Mana 850 as an entirely naked bike, but the Italian manufacturer also entered the sport-touring category with the Mana 850 GT ABS. At its base, the bike remains the same all-rounder with nothing more than a half-fairing and an adjustable windscreen, but it is claimed to be the result of a completely new concept of motorcycle and that definitely raises a few question marks.

YAMAHA 2012
Yamaha is celebrating a special 50th anniversary shindig, and to earmark the occasion, the Japanese automaker has built a radical new MotoGP-inspired Yamaha Aerox that, for a scooter, looks really dandy.
Scooters have long been associated as the transportation method of choice for students and those looking to maximize their mileage from a gallon of gasoline. Among the many choices available, Yamaha’s venerable Zuma has been a staple of college parking lots since 1989. Indeed, since 1997, Zuma sales have reached nearly 80,000 units, with the second generation accounting for nearly 64,000 units sold since its introduction in September 2001. The recipe for success is simple, too: mix mildly rugged looks, Yamaha reliability, an affordable price and everyday practicality in the form of storage space and fuel economy. Then, just reap the rewards.

The new Yamaha YZF-R6
has the looks to match any sports bike on the market, but more than its
personable profile, the bike also has the performance to back it up.
It’s no secret that the sports bike market is one of the most
competitive in the industry, and automakers need to mind their p’s and
q’s to ensure that their product delivers the goods.
For Yamaha,
the challenge was to make a bike that’s light, powerful, and boasts of
technological features that ensure that the YZF-R6 becomes the sports
bike of choice for the market.

Bikers love a motorcycle that speaks to their tastes. More often than not, they enjoy a ride that comes with aggressive looks and a sporty character. In so many words, that’s what you’ll get with the Yamaha FZ8. The bike’s "mass-forward" styling is accentuated by an aggressive headlight design while an FZ1-style instrument cluster features a great looking tachometer with a white face.

If you said that the Yamaha YZF R15 is the best looking bike in India, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. Taken from the DNA of the global Yamaha YZF R1 series, the YZF R15 looks the part of a beast on two wheels. The front portion of the bike is exactly fully-covered while the rear portion continues to be naked.
The
cowl on the bike looks stylish with two eyes serving the purpose of
twin headlamps. Furthermore, the windscreen on the top of the cowl also
looks impressive while the black rear view mirrors are accompanied by
the large airscoops. A nice long shape and a sparking body color really
catch our attention.
